Ou students say no to bathukamma !

At a time when the Telangana Rashtra Samithi is promoting the Telangana folk festival Bathukamma in a big way to rekindle the spirit of Telangana among the people, the Osmania University students have resisted the same for surprising reasons.
The OU student JAC leaders met Telangana JAC chairman M Kodandaram on Saturday and asked him to give a call to the people not to celebrate Bathukamma festival till the Telangana state is formed. They told him that it was not proper for the TRS and its cultural wing Telangana Jagruti to celebrate the Bathukamma festival in a big way at a time when the families of more than 400 students who committed suicide for separate state in the last 10 months were lamenting for their children’s sacrifice.
The OU students also did not appreciate the state government’s announcement to celebrate Bathukamma festival officially. They alleged that it was a ploy to suppress the Telangana agitation. They also lashed out at Telangana Jagruti leader K Kavitha's call to celebrate the Bathukamma festival in a grand way.
